The What Ifs

What if my dog can’t be off-leash?

Many dogs (including my Basset Hound and her super nose) cannot be off-leash, or areas where we may want to shoot don’t allow dogs off-leash. I will always defer to your preference and want to keep the safety of the dog in mind at all times. During the editing process, I will be able to remove the leash. Unless you have a super cute one you want featured that is!

What if my pet is nervous around strangers?

Sometimes animals (particularly cats in my experience) need a bit of warming-up time around new people. Our rescue Brewer, Mr. Territorial, needs to cool off in his crate before he can properly meet and interact with new people and even friends in our home. I have a lot of experience working with a pet that needs special considerations and those with different personalities. I will give your pets the space and time they need to warm up, or can utilize a long lens to still capture them in their element until they are ready to come out and play. It’s my aim to make sure that the experience is a fun and calm one for all involved – canine, feline, or otherwise.

What if my dog won’t sit-stay?

Much like dogs who can’t be off-leash, it is not a problem at all if your pet won’t specifically sit and pose for the camera. I much prefer to document them interacting with you, doing what they love outside, playing around, snuggling, and being curious. I’ve also been known to stick a treat in my mouth to get pups to keep their attention on me. They don’t actually taste that bad!

What if the weather isn’t cooperating?

They say in New England that if you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes. If we’ve planned an outdoor shoot and the weather is less than ideal, we can wait it out depending on your flexibility, reschedule for another time, or try some indoor shots and revisit an outdoor session at a later date.
